March 30, 2020 Update

Dear TLC Community,

We will remain closed this week (March 30 - April 3).

We surveyed our families and a very small number qualified as needing childcare because of their status as "essential workers." Of those, an even smaller percentage said they would utilize our services. So, for the health and safety of our staff, we will be closed this week.

Tuition will not be charged to families on April 1. The board unanimously voted to ensure that all staff will continue to be fully compensated during the closure, regardless of how long it may last.

TLC will continue to make weekly determinations about closure status with announcements to families the Thursday prior, so that families can prepare. In the meantime, the leadership team is working on processes and procedures that would be implemented at the time that TLC opens to increase health and safety standards.

During the closure, teachers will be connecting with students at least once a week and checking in. The hope is to provide connection, not content. We want our students and families to still get support and continuity with regular contact from teachers. Many resources are now posted to our website to support families in keeping their children busy and always learning. Our Therapeutic Services team will continue telehealth services. Thus far, they have gone well and provided needed support during a time that is trying for our kids.

We thank our broader TLC community for all of your support during this time. We remain committed to our mission and excitedly await reopening our doors. If you would like to support TLC and our teachers, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution here.

Sincerely,

Matt Eldred
Executive Director

March 17, 2020 Update

To the TLC Community:

As we continue to stay up to date on the COVID-19 situation, we wanted to let you know that TLC Learning Center will close at the end of the day today (Tuesday) and will be closed Wed.-Fri. this week. Our regularly scheduled Spring Break will follow from March 23-27.

During this time, we plan to have all tile in the building scrubbed and resealed (including laminate tile and bathroom tile), all carpets shampooed and cleaned, and extra cleaning of all surface areas in the building.  We hope that this total of 12 days of being closed will help us in providing the best, clean environment for all of our families and staff.

At this time, we plan to re-open Monday, March 30th at 7:30 AM. However, as you all have been keeping up to date, we will continue to monitor the situation and if there are other mandatory shut-downs, we will follow those guidelines.

We want to maintain a balance of providing the best services so that all our families can access their places of work while also making sure we keep all our TLC community safe.
Thank you!

Sincerely,

Matt Eldred
Executive Director

 March 16, 2020 Update

To the TLC Community:

We continue to monitor the latest developments with regards to the COVID-19 Virus and how to balance safety for all and maintain consistency for families. On a call with the Boulder County Department of Health this weekend, they continued to advise us on how to best minimize potential spreading of this virus. From that call and visiting with other Childcare Providers we will continue to remain open this week (as of this moment).  Please stay tuned. If things change, we will make you aware as soon as possible.

Thanks for your diligent awareness to help us to maintain as clean a center as possible. We are asking parents to keep their children home at any sign or symptom of illness. This goes for visitors to the center, as well.  The week of March 23rd while we are closed for spring break. We will have a full sanitization of the carpets, and strip and re-waxing of the tile floors.  Along with that, the cleaning crew did an extra cleaning this weekend and will continue every night this week (Mon.-Fri.) as usual. Thanks, again!

Sincerely,

Matt Eldred
